Welcome to a new kind of conversation. One where qriosity leads the way, reflection feels natural, and a design on a shirt can spark new ideas and conversations.
In this episode, I sit down with Dave Powell, founder of Time to Talk CIC, a men’s mental health initiative based in Derby. We explore three Qrious designs that caught Dave’s eye, using them as springboards into deeper topics: identity, burnout, connection, compassion and the search for something more.

🌀 “We’re All Mad Here”
A familiar phrase, but one that opens the door to big reflections. Dave shares how embracing our quirks and differences helps cultivate compassion, both for others and ourselves. If everyone’s a little bit odd, perhaps we’re not so alone after all.
“We’re all a bit strange to each other, and that helps us stay kind.”

🛑 “Spiritually Unavailable”
Chosen with irony, this design led us into a rich discussion about personal spirituality, boundaries and what it means to grow on your own terms. Dave talks about stepping away from the expectations of traditional paths and discovering a quieter, more personal strength within.
“I’m still searching, but I’m closer to understanding where I’m heading. And it’s got to come from within.”

🌌 “The Universe Comes to Me for Answers”
A bold design, but not one of arrogance. This one sparked thoughts on inner wisdom, simplicity and the strange feeling that when we stop chasing things, life often meets us halfway. Dave speaks about walking in nature, reconnecting with his thoughts, and how the smallest shifts in energy can make the biggest difference.
“The freedom to think is worth more than you think.”
This conversation is a gentle reminder that growth doesn’t always come in grand gestures. Sometimes it’s found in the walks we take, the words we wear, and the space we give ourselves and each other to just be real. Dave’s honesty and humour shine a light on the everyday courage it takes to keep showing up, stay curious, and connect meaningfully in a world that often pulls us apart. If even one design or idea sparked something in you, follow it. That thread might just lead somewhere beautiful.
