The Department of Qrious Threads is not an institution. It is a way of organising attention.
It formed gradually, through repeated observation of ordinary life under modern conditions. Work, identity, relationships, optimisation, distraction. Patterns emerged.
Many struggles appeared to persist not because they were unsolvable, but because they were being described inaccurately.
The Department
The Department operates as a fictional structure with real consequences. It allows difficult material to be examined without turning it into ideology, advice, or belief.
Authority here is procedural, not moral. Observations are logged. Distinctions are tested. Nothing is compulsory.
Subject Zero
Subject Zero is a single data point. Not a model. Not an example. Not a leader.
Early material emerged from prolonged self-observation under pressure. What mattered was not biography, but pattern.
Subject Zero remains intentionally incomplete. The work does not depend on identification.
